Piston & Rod Assembly: Inspection

  1. Check connecting rod for bend or torsion using rod aligner tool. Bend and torsion limit is .002" (.05 mm) or less, in 3.94" (100 mm) of length.
  2. Install rod, with bearings, on crankpin. Measure side thrust clearance. Maximum play at big end must be .012" (.30 mm) or less. Replace rod if not to specification.
