Engine Lubrication: Notes

Oil is circulated through the engine by pressure provided by a gear-type oil pump. Oil is drawn from the oil pan and circulated to a full-flow oil filter. From the filter, oil is directed to crankshaft main bearings that feed connecting rod bearings. The oil passage above No. 1 main bearing feeds camshafts and valve train. Oil is then returned to pan.
