Removal & Installation: Engine: Removal
- Drain coolant. Remove hood and battery. Disconnect accelerator cable from throttle body. On automatic transaxle models, disconnect throttle cable with bracket from throttle body. On all models, disconnect and remove radiator.
- Remove air cleaner assembly with airflow meter. Disconnect wiring from alternator, distributor, and coolant temperature sending unit. On automatic transaxle equipped models, disconnect coolant temperature switch. Mark components for installation reference. Disconnect power brake booster vacuum hose.
- Label and disconnect vacuum hoses attaching A/C unit and cruise control to distribution block (if equipped). Label and disconnect EFI wiring. Pull EFI wiring out through right fender panel. Disconnect heater hoses.
- Disconnect fuel hoses. Disconnect speedometer cable from transaxle. On manual transaxle models, remove clutch release cylinder without disconnecting tubing. Disconnect shifter linkage. On automatic transaxle models, disconnect transaxle control cable.
- Remove A/C compressor and power steering pump and lay aside (if equipped). Raise and support vehicle. Disconnect both front drive shafts. Remove exhaust pipe.
- Attach engine hoist to lift brackets on engine. Remove engine and transaxle mounts from brackets. Remove left transaxle mount bracket. Carefully lift engine/transaxle assembly out of vehicle and place on work stand.
