Installation (Camry & Celica)
- Install intake manifold, air intake chamber assembly, and exhaust manifold on head. Install cylinder head using new gasket. Tighten cylinder head bolts gradually, in 3 stages, reversing removal sequence. See Figure.
- Install valve lash adjusters and rocker arms in correct order. Remove any old packing material from installation surfaces. Apply seal packing to camshaft housing. Install housing immediately after seal packing has been applied.
- Tighten camshaft housing bolts gradually, in 3 stages, reversing removal sequence. See Figure. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Adjust timing and drive belts.
- Refill cooling system. Refill engine with oil. Check and set ignition timing and idle speed. Start engine and check for leaks. Allow engine to reach operating temperature. After allowing engine to cool down, retighten cylinder head bolts to specification.
