Piston & Rod Assembly: Inspection

  1. Check connecting rod for bend or torsion twist. Bend limit is .002" (.05 mm) or less, in 3.94" (100 mm) of length. Twist limit is .006" (.15 mm) or less, in 3.94" (100 mm) of length.
  2. Install connecting rod with bearings. Measure rod side thrust clearance. Maximum clearance at rod bearing cap must not exceed .012" (.30 mm). Replace rod if not within specification.
