Oil Pump: Inspection
- Using feeler gauge, measure clearance between driven rotor and pump body. Standard clearance is .004-.007" (.10-.17 mm). Maximum clearance is .008" (.20 mm). If clearance is greater than specification, replace oil pump rotor set and/or the pump body. See Fig 1.
- Measure clearance between both rotor tips. Standard clearance is .0016-.0063" (.040-.160 mm). Maximum clearance is .008" (.20 mm). If clearance is greater than maximum, replace oil pump rotor set. See Fig 1.

- Inspect relief valve components for wear or damage. Ensure relief valve operating pressure is within limits. Standard pressure is 51-63 psi (3.6-4.4 kg/cm2
). Replace oil seal if worn or damaged.
