Steering Wheel: Removal

  1. Place wheels in straight-ahead position. Disconnect battery ground cable. From lower portion of steering column, disconnect electrical wiring for indicator lights, horn and dimmer switch.
  2. Remove retaining screws from behind steering wheel (if necessary). On some models, pad will pry off. Remove horn wires (if necessary).
  3. Remove steering wheel retaining nut. Mark steering wheel and shaft for reassembly. Using puller, remove steering wheel from shaft. See Figure.
