Upper Control Arm: Removal

  1. Remove torsion bar spring. Remove cotter pin and nut. Disconnect upper ball joint from steering knuckle. Remove nut, cushion and retainer. Disconnect shock absorber from frame.
    NOTE: Do not disconnect shock absorber from lower control arm.
  2. Disconnect intermediate shaft from steering gear housing. Remove 2 nuts and bolts, and remove upper control arm from frame.
  3. To replace bushings, remove torque arm. Using a chisel and hammer, loosen and remove nut. Push out front and rear bushings.
