Intake & Exhaust Manifolds: Removal

  1. Disconnect battery. Remove air cleaner assembly. Disconnect fuel and vacuum lines, choke and throttle linkage or cable at carburetor. On air conditioner, remove vacuum idle up hose.
  2. On all models, identify and disconnect fuel, brake booster, emission control and heater inlet vacuum hoses. Remove heat insulator, PCV valve and PCV hose. Identify and disconnect all hoses and wiring related to removal of manifolds.
  3. Disconnect exhaust pipe at manifold. Remove manifold stay from exhaust manifold. Remove intake and exhaust manifold mount nuts and bolts. Remove manifolds with carburetor as an assembly. Separate carburetor from manifolds as necessary.
