Cylinder Head: Installation
- Ensure that mating surfaces are clean and camshaft caps and rocker arm assembly are tightened properly. Apply oil to all sliding and rotating surfaces.
- Install new head gasket and cylinder head. Tighten head bolts gradually, in 3 stages. See Fig 1. Install timing belt and check valve timing and timing belt tension. Complete installation in reverse order of removal.
- Set valve clearance. Fill cooling system. Refill engine with oil. Check and set ignition timing and idle speed. Start engine and check for leaks. Run engine for several minutes, let cool and recheck cylinder head mount bolt torque.
NOTE:
Loosen the head bolts in reverse of tightening sequence.
