Removal & Installation: Camshaft: Installation

  1. Coat camshaft and bearing caps with oil. Install camshaft. Apply grease to new oil seal lip and sealant on outside edge of seal. Install oil seal flush with cylinder head. DO NOT  set slantwise.
  2. Apply sealer to No. 1 bearing cap-to-head junction points and install. Install remaining bearing caps with arrows on No. 2, 3 and 4 caps facing forward.
  3. Tighten bearing cap bolts gradually, in 3 or 4 stages. See Figure. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.
