Removal & Installation

  1. Remove and separate engine/transaxle assembly. Remove flywheel or drive plate. With seal retainer removed from block, tap oil seal out using hammer and drift. DO NOT  damage seal contact surface of retainer. Apply grease to new oil seal lip. Install using Seal Installer (09218-56010) for 3A-C and (09223-41020) for 4A-C and 4A-LC.
  2. With retainer installed, use knife to cut off lip of seal. Using screwdriver, carefully pry out seal. DO NOT  damage seal contact surface of retainer or seal lip contact surface of crankshaft.
  3. Inspect seal lip contact surface of crankshaft for cracks or damage. Replace as necessary. Apply grease to new oil seal lip. Using seal installer, replace oil seal.
