Removal & Installation: Camshaft: Inspection
- Camshaft bearing clearance may be checked using Plastigage method. If clearance exceeds specifications, replace cylinder head and/or camshaft. Measure journal diameter.
- Maximum camshaft runout at center journal is .008" (.2 mm). Replace camshaft if runout is beyond limit. Replace camshaft if intake lobe height is less than 1.678-1.682" (42.63-42.72 mm), or exhaust height is less than 1.681-1.684" (42.69-42.78 mm).
