Piston Pins
NOTE:
The piston and pin are a matched set. Keep piston, pin, rings and rod together for each cylinder.
- Check fit between piston and pin by moving piston back and forth on piston pin. If any movement is felt, replace piston and pin.
- To remove, warm piston and rod assembly to about 70°F (20°C). Press out pin using pin removal/installer tool (SST09221-25014 for 3A-C and SST09221-25015 for 4A-C). DO NOT damage piston during removal.
- Check pin and piston pin hole for signs of gauling or excessive wear. Replace as necessary. To assemble, reheat piston to 70°F (20°C). Align the cavity on piston top with protrusion on rod.
- Coat pin with oil. Insert into piston using pin installer tool while holding parts in proper alignment. Check for no movement of piston on pin. See Fig 1. Press pin until centered in rod.
NOTE:
Align the piston cavity with connecting rod protrusion.
