Piston & Rod Assembly
- Remove oil pan and cylinder head as previously outlined. Mark connecting rod caps to insure that they are installed on same connecting rod and in same position.
- To install piston and connecting rod assembly, make sure bearing halves are properly seated in connecting rod and cap. When installing piston, position ring end gaps away from thrust side of piston.
- Compress rings with a ring compressor and install piston with notch in top toward front of engine. Push in from top and make sure bearing half is properly seated against crankshaft journal. Install rod cap in proper position and tighten nuts to specifications.
