RHD Steering - Upper Column and Steerign Wheel - Steering Column and Wheel - Electric Steering Column (RR) - Remove And Replace: Install

  1. Place the steering column into position for installation.
  2. Install the nuts (x4) that attach the steering column to the cross car beam.

    18 N.m (13.3 lbs-ft) 

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
    • 13 mm socket
    • 3 in extension
    • Ratchet/torque wrench

  3. With assistance, slide the steering column intermediate shaft downward and on the steering gear input shaft, making sure the shaft is aligned and fully seated.

  4. Install the bolt that attaches the steering gear assembly to the electric steering column.

    18 N.m (13.3 lbs-ft) 

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • 13 mm socket
    • Ratchet/torque wrench

  5. Install the steering column boot on the bulkhead, as shown.

  6. Connect the IP harness electrical connector to the steering column.

  7. Install the RH air wave duct. See Interior Ducting And Vents - IP, Air, Wave, Duct, RH - Remove And Replace
  8. Install the steering wheel upper gap hider. See STEERING COLUMN AND WHEEL - IP, SC, UPPER GAP HIDER ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  9. Install the steering wheel lower gap hider. See STEERING COLUMN AND WHEEL - IP, STEERING COLUMN, SHROUD LOWER SUB - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  10. Install the IP carrier. See INSTRUMENT PANEL - INSTRUMENT PANEL - DASH PANEL - INSTRUMENT PANEL UPPER ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  11. Install the LH and RH dash speakers. See INFOTAINMENT - AUDIO SYSTEM - SPEAKERS, SUBWOOFER AND AMPLIFIER - AUDIO SPEAKERS - AUDIO SPEAKER FULL RANGE, LH - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  12. Install the center dash speaker. See INFOTAINMENT - AUDIO SYSTEM - SPEAKERS, SUBWOOFER AND AMPLIFIER - AUDIO SPEAKERS - AUDIO SPEAKER FULL RANGE 100 MM, CENTER - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  13. Install the IP speaker grille. See INSTRUMENT PANEL - INSTRUMENT PANEL - DASH PANEL - IP WRAPPED AROUND ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  14. Install the touchscreen. See TOUCHSCREEN - CENTER DISPLAY ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE
  15. Install the IP service panel. See INFOTAINMENT - TOUCHSCREEN - INSTRUMENT PANEL - SERVICE PANEL - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  16. Install the steering column control module. See STEERING COLUMN AND WHEEL - STEERING COLUMN CONTROL MODULE KOSTAL - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  17. Install the steering wheel lower shroud. See DASH PANEL - SHROUD, LOWER - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  18. Install the steering wheel upper shroud. See DASH PANEL - SHROUD, UPPER - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  19. Install the steering wheel. See STEERING COLUMN AND WHEEL - STEERING WHEEL - PUR LEATHER - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  20. Install the driver airbag. See FRONT AIR BAGS - DRIVER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  21. Install the lower instrument panel. See DASH PANEL - IP LOWER, ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  22. Install the LH air wave duct. See RHD INSTRUMENT PANEL - INSTRUMENT PANEL - INTERIOR DUCTING AND VENTS - AIR WAVE DUCT - PASSENGER (RR) - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  23. Install the passenger footwell duct. See Interior Ducting And Vents - IP, Passenger Footwell Duct - Remove And Replace
  24. Install the glove box. See RHD INSTRUMENT PANEL - INSTRUMENT PANEL - DASH PANEL - GLOVEBOX ASSEMBLY (RR) - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  25. Install the passenger footwell cover. See RHD INSTRUMENT PANEL - INSTRUMENT PANEL - DASH SUPPORT FRAME - PASSENGER FOOTWELL ASSEMBLY (RR) - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  26. Install the driver footwell duct. See Interior Ducting And Vents - IP, Driver, Footwell, Duct - Remove And Replace
  27. Install the driver footwell cover. See RHD INSTRUMENT PANEL - INSTRUMENT PANEL - DASH SUPPORT FRAME - DRIVER FOOTWELL ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  28. Install the LH and RH upper A-pillar trims. See A - B - C POST INTERIOR TRIM - A - PILLAR UPPER ASSEMBLY, LH - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  29. Install the LH and RH IP end caps. See DASH PANEL - END CAP, LH - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  30. Connect LV power. See LV Battery - Li-Ion - Disconnect And Connect .
  31. Unlock the gateway. See GATEWAY UNLOCK .
  32. On the touchscreen, touch Service Mode > Chassis > Steering > Calibrate Steering Column  and select Run  to start the "Steering Column Calibration Routine".
  33. Exit service mode. See SERVICE MODE .
  34. Install the underhood storage unit. See EXTERIOR FITTINGS - LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM - FRONT LUGGAGE STORAGE COMPARTMENT - FRUNK ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  35. Install the cabin intake duct. See CABIN HVAC - HVAC, FRESH AIR GUTTER, ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  36. Install the rear underhood apron. See UNDERHOOD TRIM - REAR APRON ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
