Rear Brake Rotors - Calipers and Pads - Rear Brake Pad Kit - Remove And Replace: Remove
- Raise and support the vehicle. See RAISE VEHICLE - 2 STANDS .
- Remove the rear underhood apron. See UNDERHOOD TRIM - REAR APRON ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Place absorbent material underneath the brake booster and reservoir area.
- Hold the brake pedal.
- Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See TOOLBOX 3 - CONNECT AND DISCONNECT .
- In Toolbox, click the Actions tab, and then type "EPB Enter Service Mode" into the search field.
- Click PROC_EPB_X_SERVICE-MODE(i) , and select "Both" and "Start", click Run , and allow the routine to complete.
- Remove the LH and RH rear wheels. See WHEEL ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND INSTALL .
- Remove and discard the bolts (x2) that attach the LH rear brake caliper to the LH rear brake caliper bracket.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 17 mm 12 pt combination wrench
- 13 mm deep socket
- Ratchet/torque wrench
- Use the caliper spreader kit or similar tool to gently push the piston back into the caliper.
- Use a brake caliper S-hook to hang the LH rear caliper on the body.
- Remove the LH rear brake pads from the LH rear brake caliper bracket.
- Remove and discard the LH rear caliper abutment clips from the LH rear brake caliper bracket.
- Repeat step 9 through step 13 to remove the RH rear brake pads.
