Rear Brake Rotors - Calipers and Pads - Rear Brake Pad Kit - Remove And Replace: Install
- Install new abutment clips to the LH rear brake caliper bracket.NOTE: Use new clips from the new brake pad kit.
- Apply an even layer of Silaramic lubricant to the left and right side edges of the LH front brake pads.
- Install the LH rear brake pads on the LH rear brake caliper bracket.
- Install new bolts (x2) that attach the LH rear brake caliper to the LH rear brake caliper bracket.
26.5 N.m (19.5 lbs-ft)
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 17 mm 12 pt combination wrench
- 13 mm deep socket
- Ratchet/torque wrench
CAUTION: To prevent damage to the flexible brake hose, make sure that the brake hose can bend forward and does not make contact with the wheel arch liner when the vehicle is lowered. - Repeat step 1 through step 4 to install the RH rear brake pads.
- Install the LH and RH rear wheels. See WHEEL ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND INSTALL .
- Hold the brake pedal.
- In Toolbox, click the Actions tab, and then type "End EPB Service Mode" into the search field.
- Click PROC_EPBL_STOP-SERVICE-MODE(i) , click Run , and allow the routine to complete.
- In Toolbox, click the Actions tab, and then type "End EPB Service Mode" into the search field.
- Click PROC_EPBR_STOP-SERVICE-MODE, click Run , and allow the routine to complete.
- Disconnect the laptop with Toolbox 3 from the vehicle. See TOOLBOX 3 - CONNECT AND DISCONNECT .
- Check the brake fluid reservoir and top off as necessary.
- Remove the absorbent material from underneath the brake booster and reservoir area.
- Install the rear underhood apron. See UNDERHOOD TRIM - REAR APRON ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Remove the lift arms from below the vehicle.
- Perform one
of the following:
- If the brake pads were not replaced in this procedure, perform a road test using a series of aggressive stops and make sure that there is proper brake pedal feel and brake performance.NOTE: Add test drive correction code 00040100 as a separate activity to the Service Visit.
- If the brake pads were replaced in this procedure, perform the brake pad burnishing procedure. See BRAKE PADS - BURNISHING .NOTE: Add the correction code for brake pad burnishing 33013000 as a separate activity to the Service Visit.
- If the brake pads were not replaced in this procedure, perform a road test using a series of aggressive stops and make sure that there is proper brake pedal feel and brake performance.
