Electromechanical Brake Booster - Brake Booster and Master Cylinder Assembly - Remove And Replace: Remove

  1. Open the LH front door, and lower all windows.
  2. Remove the cowl screen panel. See UNDERHOOD TRIM - ASSEMBLY, COWL SCREEN, LHD - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  3. Disconnect the LV battery power. See LV BATTERY - LI-ION - DISCONNECT AND CONNECT .
  4. Remove the front body controller module. See BODY CONTROLLERS - ASSEMBLY, FRONT CONTROLLER GEN 3 - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  5. Remove the wiper module. See ELECTRICAL - WIPERS AND WASHER - WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND MOTOR - WIPER MODULE - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  6. Disconnect the connector under the brake fluid reservoir.

  7. Disconnect the harness connectors (x2) from the brake booster assembly.

  8. Remove the LH bolt that secures the front harness bracket.

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • 2 in extension
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
    • 10 mm socket

  9. Place absorbent material underneath the brake booster and the reservoir area, clean the area around the brake fluid reservoir, and then remove the brake reservoir cap.

  10. Remove the fluid from the brake fluid reservoir by using a brake fluid syringe.
  11. Remove the nuts (x2) that attach the forward and the rear brake line to the brake booster.

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • 12 mm 12 pt combination wrench
    • 1/4 in to 3/8 in adapter
    • 12 mm socket
    • Ratchet/torque wrench

  12. Remove the clevis pin. See BRAKES - BRAKE PEDAL - BRAKE PEDAL - BRAKE PEDAL CLEVIS PIN - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  13. Remove and discard the nuts (x4) that attach the booster to the bulkhead.

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • Ratchet/torque wrench
    • 13 mm socket
    • 6 in extension

  14. Remove the brake booster assembly from the vehicle.
