Electromechanical Brake Booster - Brake Booster and Master Cylinder Assembly - Remove And Replace: Install

  1. Position the brake booster assembly into the vehicle, and then install new nuts (x4) that attach the booster to the bulkhead.

    16.5 N.m (12.2 lbs-ft) 

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • Ratchet/torque wrench
    • 13 mm socket
    • 6 in extension

  2. Install the clevis pin to the brake pedal assembly. See BRAKES - BRAKE PEDAL - BRAKE PEDAL - BRAKE PEDAL CLEVIS PIN - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  3. Install the nuts (x2) that attach the rear and the forward brake lines to the brake booster.

    16 N.m (11.8 lbs-ft) 

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • 12 mm 12 pt combination wrench
    • 1/4 in to 3/8 in adapter
    • 12 mm socket
    • Ratchet/torque wrench

  4. Install the brake reservoir cap, and then remove the absorbent material from underneath the brake booster and the reservoir area.
  5. Install the LH bolt that secures the front harness bracket.

    9 N.m (6.6 lbs-ft) 

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • 2 in extension
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
    • 10 mm socket

  6. Connect the harness connectors (x2) to the brake booster assembly.

  7. Connect the connector under the brake fluid reservoir.

  8. Install the wiper module. See ELECTRICAL - WIPERS AND WASHER - WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND MOTOR - WIPER MODULE - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  9. Install the front body controller module. See BODY CONTROLLERS - ASSEMBLY, FRONT CONTROLLER GEN 3 - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  10. Connect the LV battery power. See LV BATTERY - LI-ION - DISCONNECT AND CONNECT .
  11. Reinstall the vehicle firmware. See SOFTWARE REINSTALL - TOUCHSCREEN .
  12. Install the cowl screen panel. See UNDERHOOD TRIM - ASSEMBLY, COWL SCREEN, LHD - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  13. Raise and support the vehicle. See RAISE VEHICLE - 2 STANDS .
  14. Bleed the braking system. See BRAKE FLUID BLEED/FLUSH (MAINTENANCE) .
  15. Install all four wheels. See WHEEL ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND INSTALL .
  16. Install the rear underhood apron. See UNDERHOOD TRIM - REAR APRON ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  17. Remove the vehicle from the 2 post lift. See RAISE VEHICLE - 2 STANDS .
  18. Repeatedly press the brake pedal until firm.
  19. Perform a road test using a series of aggressive stops to make sure there is proper pedal feel and brake performance.
    NOTE: Add test drive correction code 00040100 as a separate activity to the Service Visit.
