Front and Rear Door Glass - Rear Quarter Glass Assembly LH Black - Remove And Replace: Remove

  1. Open the front doors and lower the front windows.
  2. Open the trunk.
  3. Remove the LH B-pillar applique. See EXTERIOR TRIM FITTINGS - LHD - ASSEMBLY B-PILLAR APPLIQUE LH - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  4. Remove the LH upper brightwork. See EXTERIOR TRIM FITTINGS - UPPER BRIGHT TRIM CAP LH - BLACK - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  5. Remove the LH side rail trim. See A - B - C POST INTERIOR TRIM - SIDE RAIL ASSEMBLY, LH - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  6. Remove the LH side bolster. See 2ND ROW SEAT ASSEMBLIES - 2ND ROW BOLSTER - LH - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  7. Remove the LH C-pillar trim. See A - B - C POST INTERIOR TRIM - C PILLAR, ASSEMBLY, LH - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  8. Remove and discard the rear quarter glass seal.

  9. Clean the exterior area of the LH rear quarter body glass.
  10. Apply masking tape to the rear around the LH rear quarter body glass to protect the body and paint.

  11. Break the locating posts on the interior side of the LH rear quarter body glass using diagonal cutters and a flat head screwdriver to assist with the removal of the glass.

  12. Using a plastic trim tool, pry out the rear edge of the LH quarter brightwork from the LH rear quarter body glass, and then use a retractable blade to cut the urethane that attaches brightwork to the vehicle to remove the trim from the vehicle.
    WARNING: Always wear cut-resistant gloves when using cutting tools.
    CAUTION: Use caution with the clip that attaches the rear quarter brightwork to the LH upper body side brightwork.

  13. Remove any remaining clip parts from the upper portion of the LH quarter brightwork.
  14. Using a retractable blade knife, cut down the rubber seal around the LH rear quarter body glass to allow greater access when removing the glass.
    WARNING: Always wear cut-resistant gloves when using cutting tools.
    NOTE: This action will avoid causing damage to the body and keep the wire from getting stuck in the seal when cutting the LH rear quarter body glass.
  15. Apply masking tape to the body area near the inner side of the LH rear quarter body glass.
  16. Set up a pair of T-handles with square wire 6 feet long.
  17. Wrap the square wire around the rear edge of the LH rear quarter body glass between the body the seal.

  18. Cut the LH rear quarter body glass from the body, and then remove glass from the vehicle.

    Tip: Use a sawing motion to cut through the urethane.

  19. Clean the remaining urethane from the body using a winged scraper set.
  20. Clean the body around the urethane path with an isopropyl alcohol (IPA) wipe. Allow the area to dry for at least 1 minute.
