Front Seat Covers And Pads - 1st Row Seatback Foam Assembly, RH - Remove And Replace: Install

  1. Install the Velcro strips (x4) that attach the seat back cover onto the seat back foam pad.
    NOTE: Massage the Velcro to make sure the cover and the foam pad are perfectly fit.

  2. Put the heater harness through the hole in the bottom of the RH 1st row seat back cover.

  3. Install the RH 1st row side airbag into the airbag chute, and then insert the airbag chute with the airbag inside through the slot in the seat back foam.
    CAUTION: Make sure that the RH 1st row side airbag mounting studs extend out of the holes of the chute.
    CAUTION: Handle the airbag with extreme care when installing it into the airbag chute. The airbag is configured/folded in a specific manner and will need to be replaced if it is dropped, altered or manipulated in any way.

  4. Install the RH 1st row seat back upholstery assembly onto the seat back frame.
    NOTE: Start by sliding the foam trim straight onto the seat back frame. Ensure the posts for the headrests engage the seat back foam.
    NOTE: Ensure the heater harness and lower trim that engages the frame are pushed through to the back side of the frame.

  5. Install the RH 1st row seat side airbag studs (x2) into the seat back frame.
    NOTE: The studs should line up with the two round holes. The elongated hole is not used for this part.

  6. Install new nuts (x2) that attach the RH 1st row seat airbag to the seat back frame.

    5.4 N.m (4.0 lbs-ft) 

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • 10 mm deep socket
    • Ratchet/torque wrench

  7. Connect RH 1st row seat side airbag electrical connector.

  8. Install the tabs (x2) that attach the bottom of the lumbar support to the seat back frame.

  9. Install the bolt that attaches the bottom of the lumbar support to the seat back frame.

    5 N.m (3.7 lbs-ft) 

    NOTE: The bolt is located below the lumbar ECU.

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • 10 mm deep socket
    • Ratchet/torque wrench

  10. Install the lower flap that covers the inboard corner of the RH 1st row seat back frame.

  11. Install the upper flap that covers the inboard corner of the RH 1st row seat back frame.

  12. Install the lower flap that covers the outboard corner of the RH 1st row seat back frame.

  13. Install the upper flap that covers the outboard corner of the RH 1st row seat back frame.

  14. Install the strap that attaches the seat back cover to the foam pad.

  15. Install the seat back cover retainers (x7) to the RH 1st row seat back frame.

  16. Rotate the RH 1st row seat backrest ventilation fan counter-clockwise to install it onto the foam pad.

  17. Connect the RH 1st row seat backrest ventilation fan connector.

  18. Install the RH 1st row seat back shell to the seat. See FRONT SEAT COVERS AND PADS - 1ST ROW SEATBACK SHELL ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  19. Install the RH 1st row headrest trim. See FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLIES - 1ST ROW HEADREST ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  20. Maneuver the seat to gain access to the underside.
  21. Fasten the clip that attaches the seat back heater connector to the seat underside, and then connect the electrical wiring harness to the seat back heater connector.

  22. Attach the clips (x2) that attach the lower section of the seat back cover to the seat suspension.

  23. Position the RH 1st row seat assembly in the upright position.
  24. Install the RH 1st row seat assembly. See FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLIES - 1ST ROW SEAT ASSEMBLY, LH - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  25. Install the RH lower A-pillar trim. See A - B - C POST INTERIOR TRIM - A - PILLAR LOWER ASSEMBLY, LH - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  26. Install the RH instrument panel end cap. See DASH PANEL - END CAP, LH - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  27. Install the rear underhood apron. See UNDERHOOD TRIM - REAR APRON ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
