Dash Support Frame - Cross Car Beam Assembly, LHD - Remove And Replace: Remove
- Open the front doors and lower the front windows.
- Move the front seats backward.
- Remove the rear underhood apron. See UNDERHOOD TRIM - REAR APRON ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Disconnect the LV power. See LV BATTERY - LI-LON - DISCONNECT AND CONNECT .
- Remove the cabin intake duct. See CABIN HVAC - HVAC, FRESH AIR GUTTER, ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Remove the access panel. See FRONT BUMPER FASCIA - ASSEMBLY, ACCESS PANEL - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Remove the underhood storage unit. See EXTERIOR FITTINGS - LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM - FRONT LUGGAGE STORAGE COMPARTMENT - FRUNK ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Remove the LH and RH wiper arms and blades. See ELECTRICAL - WIPERS AND WASHERS - WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND MOTOR - WIPER ARM DR - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Remove the LH and RH shock tower covers. See UNDERHOOD TRIM - SHOCK TOWER COVER LH - REMOVE AND INSTALL .
- Remove the cowl screen panel. See UNDERHOOD TRIM - ASSEMBLY, COWL SCREEN, LHD - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Remove the wiper module. See ELECTRICAL - WIPERS AND WASHER - WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND MOTOR - WIPER MODULE - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Remove the LH and RH instrument panel end caps. See DASH PANEL - END CAP, LH - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Remove the LH and RH upper A-pillar trims. See A - B - C POST INTERIOR TRIM - A - PILLAR UPPER ASSEMBLY, LH - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Remove the passenger footwell cover. See DASH PANEL - PASSENGER FOOTWELL COVER ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Remove the glove box. See DASH PANEL - GLOVE BOX WITH USB ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .NOTE: No need to remove the glove box USB cable.
- Remove the RH footwell duct. See INTERIOR DUCTING AND VENTS - IP, PASSENGER FOOTWELL DUCT - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Disconnect the RH airwave duct thermistor connector.
- Remove the RH air wave duct. See INTERIOR DUCTING AND VENTS - IP, AIR, WAVE, DUCT, RH - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Remove the driver footwell cover. See DASH PANEL - DRIVER FOOTWELL COVER ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Remove the driver footwell duct. See INTERIOR DUCTING AND VENTS - IP, DRIVER, FOOTWELL, DUCT - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Remove the center console end panel. See CENTER CONSOLE - CONSOLE REAR END PANEL, ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Remove the LH center console front panel. See CENTER CONSOLE - CONSOLE SIDE PANEL, CARPET, LH, LHD - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Remove the RH center console front panel. See CENTER CONSOLE - CONSOLE SIDE PANEL, CARPET, RH, LHD - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the LH and RH rear of the center console to the body.NOTE: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
- 10 mm socket
- 2 in extension
- Ratchet/torque wrench
- Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the LH front of the center console to the body.NOTE: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
- 10 mm socket
- 2 in extension
- Ratchet/torque wrench
- Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the RH front of the center console to the body.NOTE: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
- 10 mm socket
- 2 in extension
- Ratchet/torque wrench
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the rear of the center console.
- Release the clip and disconnect the electrical connector from the front of the center console.
- Remove the center console assembly from the vehicle.
- Remove the lower instrument panel. See DASH PANEL - IP LOWER, ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Remove the driver airbag. See FRONT AIR BAGS - DRIVER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Remove the steering wheel. See STEERING COLUMN AND WHEEL - STEERING WHEEL - PUR LEATHER - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Remove the steering column upper shroud. See DASH PANEL - SHROUD, UPPER - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Remove the steering column lower shroud. See DASH PANEL - SHROUD, LOWER - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Remove the steering column control module. See STEERING COLUMN AND WHEEL - STEERING COLUMN CONTROL MODULE KOSTAL - REMOVE AND REPLACE
- Remove the instrument panel service panel. See INFOTAINMENT - TOUCHSCREEN - INSTRUMENT PANEL - SERVICE PANEL - REMOVE AND REPLACE
.NOTE: No need to remove the cabin temperature sensor from the service panel.
- Remove the touchscreen. See TOUCHSCREEN - CENTER DISPLAY ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Remove the instrument panel speaker grille. See INSTRUMENT PANEL - INSTRUMENT PANEL - DASH PANEL - IP WRAPPED AROUND ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Remove the LH and RH dash speakers. See INFOTAINMENT - AUDIO SYSTEM - SPEAKERS, SUBWOOFER AND AMPLIFIER - AUDIO SPEAKERS - AUDIO SPEAKER FULL RANGE, LH - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Remove the center dash speaker. See INFOTAINMENT - AUDIO SYSTEM - SPEAKERS, SUBWOOFER AND AMPLIFIER - AUDIO SPEAKERS - AUDIO SPEAKER FULL RANGE 100 MM, CENTER - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Remove the IP carrier. See INSTRUMENT PANEL - INSTRUMENT PANEL - DASH PANEL - INSTRUMENT PANEL UPPER ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE
- Remove the LH air wave duct. See INTERIOR DUCTING AND VENTS - IP, AIR, WAVE, DUCT, LH - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Release the clips (x2) that attach the headliner electrical harness to the LH lower A-pillar trim.
- Release the clip that attaches the IP electrical harness to the LH portion of the cross car beam.
- Release the holding mounts (x2) that attach the HVAC electrical harness to the cross car beam.
- Release the holding mounts (x2) that attach the HVAC electrical harness to the RH of the cross car beam.
- Release the clips (x4) and harness holder that attach the IP electrical harness to the top of the cross car beam.
- Release the clips (x4) that attach the IP electrical harness to the RH of the cross car beam.
- Release the clips (x2) that attach the headliner electrical harness to the RH lower A-pillar trim.
- Disconnect the IP electrical harness connector from the steering column.
- Release the bracket buckles (x2) that secure the connectors to the cross car beam.
- Release the clip that attaches the SCCM electrical harness to the cross car beam.
- Remove the nuts (x4) that attach the steering column to the cross car beam.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
- 13 mm socket
- 3 in extension
- Ratchet/torque wrench
- Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
- Lower the steering column and set it aside.
- Remove the clip that attaches the LH side of the main carpet to the footwell area.
- Remove the clip that attaches the RH side of the main carpet to the footwell area.
- Remove the LH and RH instrument panel support brackets. See DASH SUPPORT FRAME - DISPLAY SUPPORT BRACKET, LH - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Remove the LH and RH cross beam bar brackets. See DASH SUPPORT FRAME - IP RISER BRACKET, RH - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
- Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the LH corners of the cross car beam to the body.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
- 15 mm socket
- 3 in extension
- Ratchet/torque wrench
- Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the RH corners of the cross car beam to the body.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
- 15 mm socket
- 3 in extension
- Ratchet/torque wrench
- Remove the bolt that attaches the cross car beam to the HVAC assembly.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
- Ratchet/torque wrench
- Loosen the bolt that attaches the cross car beam to the upper side of the cowl.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm 12-point combination wrench
- Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
- Ratchet/torque wrench
- 13 mm socket
- Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the cross car beam to the HVAC assembly.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
- 10 mm socket
- 3 in extension
- Ratchet/torque wrench
- Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the steering column to the body.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
- 13 mm socket
- 3 in extension
- Ratchet/torque wrench
- Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
- With an assistant, remove the cross car beam from the vehicle and place it on a support stand or table.
