RHD Instrument Panel - Instrument Panel - Dash Support Frame - Cross Car Beam Assembly (RR) - Remove And Replace: Remove

  1. Open both front doors and lower both front windows.
  2. Move the LH and RH front seats backward.
  3. Disconnect the LV battery power. See LV BATTERY - LI-LON - DISCONNECT AND CONNECT .
  4. Remove the wiper module. See RHD ELECTRICAL - WIPERS AND WASHER - WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND MOTOR - WIPER MODULE - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  5. Remove the driver footwell cover. See RHD INSTRUMENT PANEL - INSTRUMENT PANEL - DASH SUPPORT FRAME - DRIVER FOOTWELL ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  6. Remove the LH and RH instrument panel end caps. See DASH PANEL - END CAP, LH - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  7. Remove the LH and RH upper A-pillar trims. See A - B - C POST INTERIOR TRIM - A - PILLAR UPPER ASSEMBLY, LH - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  8. Remove the instrument panel lower assembly. See DASH PANEL - IP LOWER, ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  9. Remove the passenger footwell cover. See RHD INSTRUMENT PANEL - INSTRUMENT PANEL - DASH SUPPORT FRAME - PASSENGER FOOTWELL ASSEMBLY (RR) - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  10. Remove the glove box. See RHD INSTRUMENT PANEL - INSTRUMENT PANEL - DASH PANEL - GLOVEBOX ASSEMBLY (RR) - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  11. Remove the passenger footwell duct. See RHD INSTRUMENT PANEL - INSTRUMENT PANEL - INTERIOR DUCTING AND VENTS - PASSENGER FOOTWELL DUCT ASSEMBLY (RR) - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  12. Remove the LH instrument panel air duct. See RHD INSTRUMENT PANEL - INSTRUMENT PANEL - INTERIOR DUCTING AND VENTS - AIR WAVE DUCT - PASSENGER (RR) - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  13. Remove the center console assembly. See CENTER CONSOLE - CENTER CONSOLE, ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  14. Remove the driver airbag assembly. See FRONT AIR BAGS - DRIVER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  15. Remove the steering wheel. See STEERING COLUMN AND WHEEL - STEERING WHEEL - PUR LEATHER - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
    NOTE: Mark the steering wheel to steering column before removing the steering wheel.
  16. Remove the lower shroud from the steering column. See DASH PANEL - SHROUD, LOWER - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  17. Remove the steering column control module (SCCM). See STEERING COLUMN AND WHEEL - STEERING COLUMN CONTROL MODULE KOSTAL - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  18. Remove the touchscreen. See TOUCHSCREEN - CENTER DISPLAY ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  19. Remove the instrument panel speaker grille. See INSTRUMENT PANEL - INSTRUMENT PANEL - DASH PANEL - IP WRAPPED AROUND ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  20. Remove the LH and RH instrument panel speakers. See INFOTAINMENT - AUDIO SYSTEM - SPEAKERS, SUBWOOFER AND AMPLIFIER - AUDIO SPEAKERS - AUDIO SPEAKER FULL RANGE, LH - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  21. Remove the center instrument panel speaker. See INFOTAINMENT - AUDIO SYSTEM - SPEAKERS, SUBWOOFER AND AMPLIFIER - AUDIO SPEAKERS - AUDIO SPEAKER FULL RANGE 100 MM, CENTER - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  22. Lift the white tab to disconnect the passenger air bag connector.

  23. Remove and discard the patch bolts (x2) that secure the instrument panel carrier to the cross car beam near the passenger airbag.

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
    • 6 in extension
    • 1/4 in to 3/8 in adapter
    • External Torx E10
    • Ratchet/torque wrench

  24. Disconnect the instrument panel harness connector from instrument panel LH side.

  25. Disconnect instrument panel harness connector from instrument panel RH side.

  26. Remove the screws (x9) and the datums (x2) that attach the instrument panel carrier to the cross car beam.
    NOTE: There is 1 screw and 1 datum on the upper LH side, 1 screw on the LH side, 3 screws at the lower center, 3 screws on the RH side, and 1 screw and 1 datum on the upper RH side.

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
    • 2 in extension
    • Torx T20 socket
    • 4 in extension
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
    NOTE: 1 screw and 1 datum on the upper LH side

  27. Remove the LH and RH instrument panel speaker harnesses from the instrument panel.
    NOTE: Gently pull out the instrument panel and lift it to facilitate removing the harnesses.

  28. With assistance, release guide tabs (x4) and tabs (x2) to remove the instrument panel carrier from the vehicle.

  29. Disconnect the thermistor connector from the RH instrument panel air wave duct.

  30. Remove the push clips (x2) that attach the RH air wave duct to the instrument panel, and then remove the duct.

  31. Remove the headliner harness clips (x2) on the LH lower A-pillar.

  32. Remove the instrument panel harness connector from the lower part of the cross car beam assembly.

  34. Remove the instrument panel harness clips (x8) from the top of cross car beam.

  35. Remove the blower motor harness clips (x2) from the cross car beam.

  36. Remove the UI harness fixing clip from the cross car beam.

  37. Disconnect the instrument panel harness connector from the electronic steering column.

  38. Remove the clip that attaches the instrument panel harness connector to the cross car beam assembly.

  39. Remove the RH wiring harness from the instrument panel mounting brackets (x2).

  40. Remove the wiring harness fixing clips (x4) from the lower part of the dashboard cross car beam.
    NOTE: Number of clips on newer vehicles may vary.

  41. Remove the headliner harness clips (x2) on the RH lower A-pillar.

  42. Remove the steering column control module (SCCM) wiring harness clip from the cross car beam.

  43. Remove the nuts (x4) that attach the steering column to the cross car beam.

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • Ratchet/torque wrench
    • 3 in extension
    • 13 mm socket
    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench

  44. Lower the steering column and move it aside.

  45. Remove the clips (x2) that attach the LH and RH front main carpets to vehicle.
    NOTE: Number of clips on new vehicles may vary.

  46. Remove the screws (x4) and datums (x4) that secure the LH and RH center display brackets.

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
    • 4 in extension
    • Torx T20 socket
    • Ratchet/torque wrench

  47. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the LH and RH cross car beam brackets to the cross car beam, and the nuts (x2) that attach the LH and RH cross car beam brackets to the body.

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
    • 13 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench

  48. Remove the LH and RH cross car beam brackets from the vehicle.

  49. Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the cross car beam to the body.

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • Ratchet/torque wrench
    • 15 mm socket
    • 3 in extension
    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver

  50. Remove the bolts (x5) that attach the cross car beam to the HVAC assembly.

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • Ratchet/torque wrench
    • 10 mm socket
    • 3 in extension
    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver

  51. Loosen the bolt that attaches the cross car beam to the upper cowl.

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • 13 mm 12 pt combination wrench

  52. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the steering column to body.

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • Ratchet/torque wrench
    • 3 in extension
    • 13 mm socket
    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench

  53. With assistance, remove the cross car beam from the vehicle.
