Closure Panels - Assembly - Fender - Left - Remove And Install: Remove

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. See RAISE VEHICLE - 2 STANDS .
  2. Disconnect the LV battery power. See LV BATTERY - LI-LON - DISCONNECT AND CONNECT .
  3. Remove the underhood storage unit. See EXTERIOR FITTINGS - LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM - FRONT LUGGAGE STORAGE COMPARTMENT - FRUNK ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  4. Remove the LH front wheel. See WHEEL ASSEMBLY - REMOVE AND INSTALL .
  5. Remove the LH front wheel arch liner. See WHEEL ARCH LINERS - FRONT WHEEL LINER ASSEMBLY, LH - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  6. Remove the front fascia assembly. See FRONT BUMPER FASCIA - FASCIA ASSEMBLY - FRONT - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
    NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the valance and harness from the front fascia assembly.
  7. Remove the LH headlamp. See FRONT LIGHTS - HEAD LAMP ASSEMBLY ECE, LH - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  8. Disconnect the side repeater connectors (x2).

  9. Remove the LH fascia side to fender bracket. See FRONT BUMPER FASCIA - BRACKET - FASCIA SIDE TO FENDER LH - REMOVE AND REPLACE .
  10. Remove the LH shock tower cover. See UNDERHOOD TRIM - SHOCK TOWER COVER LH - REMOVE AND INSTALL .
  11. Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the upper LH front fender to the vehicle.

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • 10 mm deep socket
    • 4 in extension
    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
    • Ratchet/torque wrench

  12. Remove the bolt that attaches the lower LH front fender to the vehicle.

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • 10 mm deep socket
    • 4 in extension
    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
    • Ratchet/torque wrench

  13. Remove the bolt that attaches the rear LH front fender to the vehicle.

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • 10 mm deep socket
    • 4 in extension
    • Ratchet/torque wrench

  14. Remove the clips (x2) that attach the NVH cotton, and then remove the cotton from the vehicle.

  15. Remove the bolt and nut that attach the lower LH front fender to the vehicle.

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • 10 mm deep socket
    • 4 in extension
    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
    • Ratchet/torque wrench

  16. Carefully cut the sealant between the upper LH front fender and the vehicle body with a blade, and then separate the upper fender from the body with a plastic trim tool.

  17. Remove the LH front fender from the vehicle.

  18. Use a flat scraper blade and isopropyl alcohol (IPA) to remove the foam sealant from the LH outer shotgun panel. Any remaining sealant should be flush with the shotgun panel.

  19. Apply primer to the LH outer shotgun panel, completely covering the previous foam application area.
  20. Use a flat scraper blade and isopropyl alcohol (IPA) to remove the foam sealant from the LH fender bracket.

  21. Apply primer to the LH fender bracket, completely covering the previous foam application area.
    NOTE: Place absorbent paper around the fender bracket in order to prevent dripping of the primer.
