Rear Door Spring - Rear - LH - Remove And Replace: Remove

  1. Remove the LH lower B-pillar trim. See Trim - B-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace) .
  2. Remove the headliner from the vehicle. See Headliner (Remove and Install) .
  3. Carefully disconnect the ultrasonic sensor from the center spine applique.

  4. Remove the LH front racetrack trim. See Racetrack Trim - Front - LH (Remove and Replace) .
  5. Remove the LH rear racetrack trim. See Racetrack Trim - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace) .
  6. Remove the LH lower racetrack trim. See Racetrack Trim - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace) .
  7. Remove the LH upper racetrack trim. See Racetrack Trim - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace) .
  8. Remove the LH upper rear door glass assembly. See DOOR GLASS ASSEMBLY - REAR - UPPER - LH (REMOVE AND REPLACE) .
  9. Close the RH falcon wing door.
  10. Remove the center spine applique. See Applique - Spine - Center (Remove and Replace) .
  11. Open the LH falcon wing door.
  12. Disconnect the electrical connectors (x4) for the LH and RH EM controllers.
    NOTE: Push the tab inward to release the connector.

  13. Release the coaxial connector from the center spine closeout panel, and then disconnect the connector.

  14. Remove the bolts (x8) that attach the center spine closeout panel to the vehicle, and then lower the closeout panel slightly.

    3.5 N.m (2.6 ft-lbs) 

    CAUTION: Do not allow closeout panel to hang from the harness.

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • 10 mm socket

  15. Release the clips (x5) that attach the center spine closeout panel to the wiring harness, and then remove the closeout panel from the vehicle.

  16. Remove the bolt and release the clips (x2) that attach the LH hinge trim cover to the vehicle, and then remove the cover from the vehicle.

    5 N.m (3.7 ft-lbs) 

    NOTE: The lower clip must be pried down before releasing.

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • 8 mm socket

  17. Release the LH rear door primary body side seal from the double sided tape (x2), and then remove the seal from the vehicle.
    NOTE: Pull the seal inward to remove as much tape as possible from the body.
    NOTE: Shift the seal up and over the falcon door to fully remove it.

  18. Use an eraser wheel to remove the majority of the residual adhesive from the body, and then use IPA wipes to remove any remaining residue.
    NOTE: Removal may be more difficult when exposed to heat.
    NOTE: Allow 1 minute of dry time.

  19. Remove the inner nuts (x2) that attach the LH carrier bracket to the body.

    1.5 N.m (1.1 ft-lbs) 

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • 8 mm socket

  20. Remove the bolts (x2) and release the clips (x2) that attach the LH carrier bracket to the body, and then remove the bracket from the vehicle.

    1.5 N.m (1.1 ft-lbs) 

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • T25 socket

  21. Support the LH falcon wing door.
    CAUTION: Place protection between the stand and door.

  22. Disconnect the LH falcon wing door front and rear strut electrical connectors (x4).

  23. Release the LH falcon wing door front and rear primary struts from the door assembly.
    NOTE: Release the C-clip while pulling the strut away from the ball joint.
    NOTE: Do not fully remove the C-clip from the strut.

  24. With assistance, carefully remove the bolts (x4) that attach the LH rear rear door spring cover bracket to the vehicle, and then remove the rear door spring from the vehicle.

    5 N.m (3.7 ft-lbs) 

    WARNING: Make sure the spring is not under tension by overextending the LH rear door over the center spine; be careful not to damage the RH rear door.

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • T25 socket
