Seat Back Sub-Assembly - 2nd Row Seat - LH (5 Seat) - Remove And Replace: Remove

Open all four doors.
Lower the LH and RH front windows.
Open the liftgate.
Move the LH and RH front seats forward.
Fold the 2nd row 40 and 60 seats downward.
Remove the LH and RH rear sill panel trims. See Trim - Sill Panel - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace) .
Apply masking tape to the LH and RH racetrack trims to avoid damage.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Masking tape

Remove the rear trunk load floor. See Trunk Load Floor - Rear (Remove and Replace) .
Remove the front trunk load floor. See Trunk Load Floor - Front (Remove and Replace) .
Remove the trunk gap hider. See Gap Hider - Trunk (5 Seat) (Remove and Replace) .
Remove the LH and RH side rear trunk garnishes. See Garnish - Rear Trunk - Side - LH (Remove and Replace) .
Remove the LH and RH mid C-pillar trims. See Trim - C-Pillar - Mid - LH (Remove and Replace) .
Remove the LH and RH trunk load floor bracket covers. See Cover - Bracket - Trunk Load Floor - LH (Remove and Replace) .
Remove the LH and RH lower C-pillar trims. See Trim - C-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace) .
Remove the 2nd row mid floor panel. See Floor Panel - Mid - 2nd Row (5 Seat) (Remove and Replace) .
Starting from the front, lift the trunk carpet over the harpoon brackets, and then fold the carpet rearwards.
NOTE: Fold the carpet rearwards enough to access the rear seat components.

Remove the 2nd row rear floor panel. See Floor Panel - Rear - 2nd Row (5 Seat) (Remove and Replace) .
Remove the LH 2nd row rear floor supports. See Floor Supports - Rear - 2nd Row - LH (Remove and Replace) .
Remove the LH 2nd row seat assembly. See SEAT ASSEMBLY - 2ND ROW - LH (7 SEAT) (REMOVE AND REPLACE) .
Unfold the LH 2nd row seat assembly.

Remove the center 2nd row buckle. See Buckle - 2nd Row - Center (5 Seat) (Remove and Replace) .
Remove the LH 2nd row recliner lever. See LEVER - RECLINER - 2ND ROW - LH (REMOVE AND REPLACE) .
Remove the LH 2nd row recliner cover. See COVER - RECLINER - 2ND ROW - LH (REMOVE AND REPLACE) .
Remove the LH 2nd row seat cushion sub-assembly. See CUSHION SUB-ASSEMBLY - 2ND ROW SEAT - LH (5 SEAT) (REMOVE AND REPLACE) .
Remove and discard the bolt that attaches the center 2nd row seatbelt to the seat frame.
NOTE: Route the seatbelt around the center belt restraint.

Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Ratchet/torque wrench
- Torx T50 socket

Fold the LH 2nd row seat assembly.

Unzip the LH 2nd row seat back upholstery on both sides.
NOTE: Ends of the zippers are tucked underneath the upholstery. Use a pick to aid in moving the zipper.

- Pick Miniature Soft Grip, 90 degree tip, 6 in

Release the clips (x4) that attach the LH 2nd row seat back tether cup bezel to the seat, and then remove the bezel from the seat.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Plastic trim tool

Release the J-hook that attaches the LH 2nd row seat back upholstery to the seat, and then fold the upholstery over the seat.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Pick Miniature Soft Grip, 90 degree tip, 6 in

Release the clips (x13) that attach the LH 2nd row seat plastic seat back to the seat, and then remove the plastic seat back from the seat.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Clip prytool 20 in

Remove the bolt that attaches the LH 2nd row seat torsion spring bearing cap to the seat, and then remove the cap from the seat.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
- Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench

Carefully release the LH 2nd row seat lower rear trim sub-assembly.
NOTE: Pull down to release the trim sub-assembly from the seat frame.

Disconnect the LH 2nd row seat heater connectors (x2), and then disconnect the seat side airbag connector.

Remove and discard the nuts (x2) that attach the LH 2nd row seat side airbag to the seat frame.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Ratcheting combination wrench, flex head, 13 mm

Release the lower part of the LH 2nd row seat back cushion.

Remove the LH 2nd row seatbelt escutcheon. See Escutcheon - Seatbelt - 2nd Row - LH (Remove and Replace) .
Remove the center 2nd row seatbelt escutcheon. See Escutcheon - Seatbelt - 2nd Row - Center (Remove and Replace) .
Feed the LH 2nd row seat outer and center seat belts through the seat cushion pass through.
