Camera - Bi - Forward Facing (HW4) Remove and Replace: Install

  1. Use glass cleaner to clean the inside surface of the windshield.

  2. Connect the electrical connectors (x2) to the bi-camera assembly.
    NOTE: The bi-camera assembly has cutouts for 3 camera lens assemblies, but one of the cutouts is populated with a dummy camera.

  3. Install the screws (x4) that attach the bi-camera assembly to the windshield. 0.8 Nm (7 lbs-in) 
    CAUTION: Make sure not to trap any electrical harnesses between the bi-camera assembly and the windshield.

    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

    • T10 bit

  4. Install the glare shield assembly. See Glare Shield - Autopilot - Remove And Replace .
  5. Install the upper camera cover. See Camera Cover - Upper - Remove And Replace .
  6. Reset the Driver Assistance System (DAS).
    1. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway (Unlock) .
    2. On the touchscreen Service Mode menu, touch Driver Assist > Cameras > Reset DAS  .
    3. On the touchscreen Cameras diagram, confirm that the Reset DAS  button is highlighted green and that all DAS components display a green status light.
      NOTE: Investigate and rectify any DAS components that display a red status light.

  7. HW4 cameras only:  Run the camera connection test to update the new camera's firmware.
    NOTE: DAS Cameras are not CAN modules and cannot be updated via firmware reinstall or "Part Replacement Deploy".
    1. Locally connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle.
    2. Click on the Actions tab, search for "calibration mode", and then Run the DAS Enter Calibration Mode routine.
    3. Click on the Actions tab, search for "camera connection test", and then Run the routine that corresponds with the camera that was replaced (e.g., Left B-Pillar Camera Connection Test or Front Camera Connection Test).
      NOTE: The forward facing bi-camera assembly consists of two individual cameras that must be updated separately: Front Camera Connection Test and Fisheye Camera Connection Test. Make sure to update firmware on the cameras that were replaced.
      NOTE: If 2 versions of the same routine are displayed, Run the routine that contains "-SCRIPT" in the "Path" field.
    4. In the Camera Connection Test prompt, change the "Timeout" to "100", and then Run the routine.
      NOTE: This routine will update the camera's firmware and then confirm that the camera is connected.

  8. Perform the forward facing camera pitch verification. See Camera - Forward Facing Pitch Verification .
  9. Install the rear view mirror. See Mirror - Rear View - Remove And Replace .
  10. Disable Service Mode. See Service Mode (Enable And Disable) .
  11. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
  12. Inform the customer that the vehicle needs to be driven by the customer to complete the calibration procedure.
    NOTE: Self-calibration can take up to 100 miles (160 km) of manual driving, depending upon the road type and condition. Until self-calibration is complete, the message "Autopilot Features Currently Unavailable: Manual Driving Required While Camera Is Calibrating" is displayed if an attempt is made to engage an Autopilot feature.
