Closeout Panel - Door - Rear - LH - Remove And Install: Removal

  1. Remove the rear door trim panel PANEL - DOOR TRIM - REAR - LH (REMOVE AND REPLACE) .
    NOTE: Vehicles built before approximately June 2016 require the curtain airbag harness to be disconnected. Since approximately June 2016, vehicles are built with a harness that is long enough to allow the curtain airbag harness to remain connected while the closeout panel is removed.
  2. Vehicles built before June 2016:  Disconnect 12V power DISCONNECT 12V POWER .
  3. Disconnect the electrical connectors that are secured to the rear of the closeout panel.

  4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ultrasonic door sensor module.
  5. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the rear door controller module.
  6. Release the push clip that secures each of the connectors to the closeout panel.
  7. Vehicles built before June 2016:  Disconnect the curtain air bag connector:
    1. Ensure that the first responder loop has been disconnected for at least 2 minutes.
    2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the front of the curtain air bag.
      WARNING: To avoid personal injury, observe all relevant safety precautions before removing or testing any SRS components.
      WARNING: To avoid personal injury, eye protection must be worn when performing this operation.

  8. Remove the screws (x10) that secure the closeout panel to the door (torque 1.8 N.m).

  9. Remove the screws (x3) that secure the closeout panel to the window motor (torque 1.8 N.m).

  10. Release the rear door manual release cable from the closeout panel.
  11. Move the closeout panel out of the working area.
