IP Carrier - Remove And Replace: Remove

  1. Fully open both front doors.
  2. Move both front seats to their rearmost positions.
  3. Adjust the steering column:
    • Lower the steering column to its lowest position.
    • Fully extend the steering column.
  4. Remove the defrost mesh grille assembly ASSEMBLY - MESH GRILLE - DEFROST (REMOVE AND REPLACE) .
  5. Remove the MCU Media Control Unit (Remove And Install) .
  6. Remove the screws (x2) that secure the driver's knee bolster (torque 2.3 N.m). Remove the bolster from the vehicle.

  7. Remove the driver's knee air bag Knee Air Bag - Driver's (Remove And Replace) .
  8. Prepare a rigid support that is approximately 16 in (400 mm) tall, which will be used to support the steering column in the next step.

  9. Working from the driver's footwell, remove the bolts that secure the steering column to the IP carrier bracket (torque 26 N.m), then lower the steering column onto the support.
    CAUTION: The steering column must be supported to prevent damage to the electrical harness.
  10. Remove the screws that secure the IP carrier to the dash frame (torque 2 N.m).
  11. Disconnect the electrical connector from the dash tweeter.

  12. Lift the IP carrier up, then release the clip that holds the dash tweeter electrical harness to the IP carrier.
  13. Remove the IP carrier from the dash frame.
