Assembly - Top Pad - Instrument Panel - Remove And Install: Removal
- Move the steering wheel to its lowest, most-extended position.
- Open both front doors.
- Open the glove box.
- Disconnect 12V power Disconnect 12V Power .
- Remove the LH and RH instrument panel side covers ASSEMBLY - INSTRUMENT PANEL SIDE COVER - LH (REMOVE AND REPLACE) .
- On each side of the vehicle, release the screw that secures the top pad to the IP bracket (torque 1.2 N.m)
- Remove the binnacle cover.
- Release the screws (x2) that secure the top pad to the IP carrier (torque 1.2 N.m).
- Remove the glove box GLOVE BOX (REMOVE AND REPLACE) .
- Wear an ESD wrist strap and ground the strap to the cross car beam.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors from the Autopilot ECU.
- Remove the fasteners that secure the Autopilot ECU to the cross car beam (torque 5 N.m).
- Remove the Autopilot ECU from the vehicle.
- Remove the recirculation NVH hood.
- Release the screws (x2) that secure the air bag to the cross car beam (torque 10 N.m).
- Disconnect the harnesses (x3) from the airbag.NOTE: RHD vehicles have only one airbag connector.
- Carefully release the clips (x19) that secure the top pad to the IP carrier, but do not remove the top pad at this time.CAUTION: Only release 1 clip at a time.
Tip: Use an inflatable wedge to release the clips.
- Carefully lift up the top pad. Release the retaining strap that secures the top pad to the MCU. Do not fully remove the top pad at this time.
- Release the barrel clips (x2) that secure the airbag harnesses to the airbag.
- Remove the top pad and place it on a protected surface.
