Rear Disc Brake Caliper Disassembly and Reassembly: Reassembly

Reference:  REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER CHECK

WARNING: Failure to take proper precautions when assembling the brake caliper can result in brake system failure, which could lead to an accident.
  • Clean each part before installation using the same brake fluid as that in the master cylinder reservoir. Never use any other brake fluid or volatile solvent.
  • Before installing the brake caliper to its carrier, install each slide pin after greasing the hole in the carrier and check for smooth movements in the thrust directions.
  • Apply brake fluid to the piston seal before installing it to the cylinder.
  • Fit the piston seal securely into the groove of the cylinder making sure it is not twisted.

Before installing piston to brake caliper, check piston and caliper as below.

  1. Apply thread lock cement to shaft thread (6) of caliper.

"A": Thread lock cement 99000-32110 (Thread Lock Cement Super 1322)

  2. Apply grease to inside of new shaft cover (1).
  3. Install new shaft cover, lever (2), washer (3), parking nut (4) and return spring (5) to caliper.
