Accessory Drive Belt Tensioner and Idler Pulley Removal and Installation
Accessory Drive Belt Tensioner
Removal
1) Disconnect negative (-) cable from battery.
2) Drain coolant. Draining
3) Remove water pump. Water Pump Removal and Installation
4) Remove tensioner (1).
Installation
Accessory Drive Belt Tensioner and Idler Pulley Inspection
Reverse removal procedure noting the following.
- Refill cooling system. Refilling
- Verify that there is no coolant leakage at each connection. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
- Tighten tensioner bolts to specified torque.
Tightening torque
Tensioner bolt (a): 25 Nm (2.5 kgf-m, 18.5 lbf-ft)
Idler Pulley
Removal
1) Remove engine assembly from vehicle if necessary. Removal and Replacement
2) Remove accessory drive belt. Removal and Installation
3) Remove idler pulley(s) (2).
Installation
Accessory Drive Belt Tensioner and Idler Pulley Inspection
Reverse removal procedure noting the following.
- Tighten idler pulley bolt and nuts to specified torque.
Tightening torque
Idler pulley bolt (b): 40 Nm (4.1 kgf-m, 29.5 lbf-ft)
Idler pulley nut (c): 40 Nm (4.1 kgf-m, 29.5 lbf-ft)
