Removal (Lower)

WARNING: To avoid the danger of being scalded, do not drain engine oil when engine is hot.
NOTE: When removing components such as hoses, tubes/lines, etc., cap or plug openings to prevent fluid from spilling.
  1. Remove the engine under cover (if equipped). Refer to FRONT BUMPER: REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
  2. Drain engine oil. Refer to CHANGING ENGINE OIL .
  3. Remove oil pan (lower) using the following steps.
    1. Remove the oil pan (lower) bolts using power tool in reverse order as shown in illustration.

    2. Insert Tool between the oil pan (lower) and the oil pan (upper).

      Tool number: KV10111100 (J-37228) 

      CAUTION:
      • Be careful not to damage the mating surfaces.
      • Do not insert screwdriver, this will damage the mating surfaces.
      NOTE: Tap (1) Tool to insert it and then slide (2) it by tapping on the side of the Tool as shown in illustration.
