Wheel Bearing & Hub: Removal
- Raise and support vehicle. Remove front wheel(s). On 2WD models, remove hub center cover. On 4WD models, remove axle shaft drive flange. See Figure . On all models, remove caliper from steering knuckle, and wire aside. See Figure . Remove wheel speed sensor and clamp. See Figure .
- Remove brake disc. If disc cannot be removed by hand, install two 8-mm bolts into threaded holes of disc. Alternately tighten bolts to remove rotor from hub. Remove wheel bearing lock plate by removing 4 attaching screws. See Figure . Remove lock nut using Socket (09951-16050). Remove lock washer.
- On all models, remove wheel hub, bearing and seals as an assembly. If wheel hub cannot be removed by hand, use slide hammer and Hub Remover Adapter (09943-35511). Remove hub seal and snap ring from hub. Using Hub Bearing Installer/Remover (09944-68210), press bearing assembly from hub.
NOTE:
DO NOT reuse bearing assembly once it has been pressed out of hub. Replace with NEW one-piece bearing assembly
