Power Brake Booster: Installation

- Replace sealer. See Figure .
- Install brake booster in engine compartment.
- Install clevis.
- Install pin assembly.
- Install snap ring.
- Reconnect vacuum hose (with built-in check valve). Insert vacuum hose with its paint mark facing forward. See Fig 1 .
- Using a vacuum pump, apply vacuum (negative pressure) of 66.7 kPa to the brake booster. Measure distance "A". See Fig 2 .
- If the protrusion is not 0.400-0.409" (10.15-10.40 mm), adjust the push rod length by turning the push rod. Use Special Tool (MB991568) to turn the push rod while holding the rod spline with angle-nose pliers. See Fig 3 .
- To complete installation, reverse remaining removal procedure. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
NOTE:
When a vacuum (negative pressure) of 66.7 kPa is not applied to the brake booster, the push rod protrusion (distance "A") should be 0.348-0.358" (8.85-9.10 mm).
