Drum Brakes: Installation

NOTE: Numbers in parenthesis refer to number in illustration.
  1. Install wheel cylinder assembly. See Figure .
  2. Reconnect brake line.
  3. Install shoe hold-down pin.
  4. Install shoe and lining assembly (15).
  5. Install parking lever.
  6. Install the wave washer as illustrated. See Fig 1 .
  7. Use pliers or a similar tool to close the retainer end onto the pin. See Fig 2 .
  8. Install shoe and lever assembly. See Figure .
  9. Install shoe and lining assembly.
  10. Install shoe-to-lever spring.
  11. Install shoe-lever cup.
  12. Install retainer spring.
  13. Install auto-adjuster assembly.
  14. Install adjuster lever.
  15. Install shoe-to-shoe spring.
  16. Reconnect parking brake cable.
  17. Install brake drum.
