Removal (Right Side)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Suzuki XL-7, 2004 Suzuki Vitara, and 2004 Suzuki Grand Vitara. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Hoist vehicle and remove wheel.
  2. Remove engine undercover.
  3. Drain differential gear oil. See Fig 1 .
  4. Remove axle shaft drive flange.
  5. Remove circlip (1) and front spindle thrust washer (2). See Figure .
  6. Remove knuckle and wheel hub component. See appropriate FRONT article in SUSPENSION.
  7. CAUTION: To prevent breakage of boots (wheel side and differential side), DO NOT contact them with other parts when removing axle shaft assembly.
  8. Remove axle shaft assembly. To detach circlip fitted on the spline of differential side joint (1) from differential side gear, pull differential side joint by using a tire lever (2). See Fig 2 .
  9. Remove axle shaft oil seal (1). See Figure .
