Engine Cooling Fan Drive Belt

  1. Disconnect negative cable at battery.
  2. Inspect belt for cracks, cuts, deformation, wear and cleanliness. If nay defect exists, replace belt.
  3. Check belt for tension. If belt is too tight or too loose, adjust it to specification by adjusting cooling fan pulley position. Belt tension ("a") should be .20-.27" (5-7 mm) under 22 Lbs. (100 N) for used belt and .16-.19" (4-5 mm) under 22 Lbs. (100 N) for new belt. See Fig 1 and DRIVE BELT SPECIFICATIONS  table.
