A/C Compressor, Alternator & Power Steering Belt

  1. Disconnect negative cable at battery.
  2. Inspect belt for cracks, cuts, deformation, wear and cleanliness. If any of the conditions are found, replace.
  3. NOTE: Use mirror when checking belt tension.
  4. Check belt tension. See Figure . For Type A, make sure that tension indicator "A" is within the range "a". If indicator "A" comes into the NG range "c" passing "b", replace belt with a new one. For Type B, check that tension indicator "B" is at the right of indicator "A". If indicator "B" is found to the left of indicator "A", replace belt.
