- Perform On-Board Diagnostic II System Check.
- Perform Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) System Check.
- Check restricted air filter
- Check ignition system.
- Check for faulty PCM and grounds.
- Check ignition timing.
- Check Knock Sensor (KS) system for excessive retard.
- Check for faulty Torque Converter Clutch (TCC).
- Check for contaminated fuel.
- Check fuel pressure.
- Check for restricted fuel filter.
- Check EGR system.
- Check for restricted air filter.
- Check for faulty throttle position sensor.
- Check for faulty Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor.
- Check oxygen sensor for silicone contamination from fuel or improper RTV sealant.
- Ensure the installed PROM and/or PCM is correct for that particular vehicle. Check with dealer for latest application information.
- Check for faulty Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor.
- Use scan tester to ensure vehicle speed sensor reading matches actual vehicle speed.
- Check A/C system operation.
- Check charging system voltage.
- Check power steering operation.
- Check for faulty automatic transmission operation.
- Check valve timing.
- Check for excessive fuel additives.
- Check for improper or worn camshaft.
- Check engine compression.
- Check for restricted exhaust system.
- Check Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) system operation.
- Check Variable Intake Manifold (VIM) solenoid valve.
- Check for faulty or restricted throttle body.
- Check for sticking or slaking throttle cable.
