- Ensure ignition is off. Remove left lower B-pillar trim panel. Disconnect Yellow seat belt pretensioner connector. Connect STEERING WHEEL connector of Load Tool (09932-75010) to harness side of seat belt pretensioner connector. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, retrieve DTC's. If DTC B1044 is current, go to next step. If DTC B1044 is not current, replace seat belt pretensioner. See SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Remove load tool from seat belt pretensioner connector. Remove driver-side kick panel. Disconnect driver-side seat belt pretensioner connector G-72, located in kick panel. Connect load tool to SRS side of connector. Using scan tool, retrieve DTC's. If DTC B1044 is current, go to next step. If DTC B1044 is not current, repair short to voltage between wires in wire harness between connector and SDM. See WIRE REPAIR .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect load tool. Disconnect SDM connector. See SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and SDM connector terminal No. 12 (Pink wire). See Figure. If voltage is less than one volt, substitute a known-good SDM and retest. If voltage is more than one volt, repair short to voltage in Pink wire. See WIRE REPAIR . Reconnect all components. Using scan tool, clear DTC's. Go to AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under DIAGNOSTICS.
