Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Suzuki XL-7 and 2003 Suzuki Grand Vitara. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ensure ignition is off. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Disconnect right forward sensor connector. See FORWARD SENSORS  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Measure resistance across forward sensor terminals. See FORWARD SENSOR  under COMPONENT TESTING. If resistance is 738-905 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 738-905 ohms, replace forward sensor.
  2. Disconnect SDM connector. See SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Measure resistance between SDM connector terminals No. 13 (Yellow/Green wire) and No. 14 (Yellow/Blue wire). See Figure. If resistance is infinite, go to next step. If resistance is not infinite, repair short between Yellow/Green wire and Yellow/Blue wire. See WIRE REPAIR .
  3. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and SDM connector terminals No. 13 (Yellow/Green wire) and No. 14 (Yellow/Blue wire). If voltage is less than one volt, substitute a known-good SDM and retest. If voltage is more than one volt, repair short to power in Yellow/Green wire or Yellow/Blue wire. See WIRE REPAIR . Reconnect all components. Activate air bag system. Using scan tool, clear DTC's. Go to AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under DIAGNOSTICS.
