Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Suzuki XL-7 and 2003 Suzuki Grand Vitara. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Pull top of glove box outward while depressing stops. Allow glove box to fall toward passenger seat. Disengage CPA clip and disconnect connector for passenger-side air bag module. See Figure.
  2. Connect STEERING WHEEL connector of Load Tool (09932-75010) to harness side of passenger-side air bag module connector. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, retrieve DTC's. If DTC B1015 is current, go to next step. If DTC B1015 is not current, replace passenger-side air bag module. See PASSENGER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect SDM connector. See SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Measure resistance between SDM connector terminals No. 7 (Yellow/Red wire) and No. 8 (Yellow wire). See Figure. If resistance is 4.5 ohms or less, substitute a known-good SDM and retest. If resistance is more than 4.5 ohms, repair open or high resistance in Yellow/Red wire or Yellow wire. See WIRE REPAIR . Reconnect all components. Using scan tool, clear DTC's. Go to AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under DIAGNOSTICS.
