DTC 43: Air Bag Warning Light Stays Illuminated

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Disconnect SRS ECU connector C-115. See Figure. If connector C-115 is damaged, replace wire harness. Go to step  4. If connector C-115 is okay, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect combination meter connector C-05. See Figure. Connect negative battery cable. Turn ignition on. If AIR BAG warning light goes out, go to next step. If AIR BAG warning light does not go out, replace combination meter. Go to step  4.
  3. Inspect wire harness between SRS ECU connector C-115, terminal No. 8 (Green/Yellow wire) and combination meter connector C-05, terminal No. 11. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If wire is damaged, replace wire harness. Go to next step. If wire is okay, erase, then retrieve DTC's using scan tool. If DTC 43 is retrieved, replace SRS ECU. See SRS ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT (SRS ECU)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to next step.
  4. Reconnect all SRS components. Activate air bag system. Using scan tool retrieve DTC's. If DTC 43 is retrieved, go to step  1. If DTC 43 is not retrieved, system is normal at this time. Intermittent condition may exist.
