Test Description

The numbers below refer to the step numbers in the diagnostic procedures.

  1. 2

    Canister purge vacuum switch is normally closed when no vacuum is present. When ignition is on there should not be any vacuum (purge) present in the EVAP system.

  2. 3

    This step determines if PCM is able to control EVAP purge solenoid valve.

  3. 4

    This step determines if DTC will set under conditions present when DTC was originally set. If not fault is intermittent.

  4. 5

    This step checks for a grounded EVAP purge solenoid driver circuit, a faulty EVAP vacuum switch, or a leaking EVAP purge solenoid valve.
