Diagnostic Aids

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Isuzu Rodeo Sport and 2002 Isuzu Rodeo. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Check for poor connection at PCM. Inspect harness connectors for backed-out terminals, improper mating, broken locks, improperly formed or damaged terminals and poor terminal connection. Inspect wiring harness for damage. Fuel Vapor Pressure (FVP) sensor shares a 5-volt reference signal with the MAP sensor. If a FVP or EGR related DTC is set along with P1441, check 5-volt reference signal circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. FVP sensor shares a ground signal with the MAP, TPS, CKP, CAM, ECT and automatic transmission temperature sensor. If connections and harness appear okay, observe EVAP VACUUM SW display on scan tool while moving all related harnesses and connectors. A change in scan tool display indicates fault location. Reviewing FAILURE RECORDS vehicle mileage since last failure may help determine how often condition that caused failure occurred, and may assist in diagnosing problem.
