Test Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Isuzu Rodeo Sport and 2002 Isuzu Rodeo. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The numbers below refer to the step numbers in the diagnostic procedures.

  1. 3

This step determines if DTC P0201 is the result of a hard failure or an intermittent condition.
  2. 5

A special fuel injector test connector is provided so that fuel injectors can be tested without the need to remove manifold. Test connector can be identified by the Blue connector lock which is tethered to wiring harness at front of left valve cover. If LED for cylinder No. 1 is "ON" steady before cranking and during cranking the engine, indicates fuel injector driver circuit is shorted to ground. If LED blinks while cranking engine, PCM and wiring to injectors are okay. Check fuel injectors using, INJECTOR COIL TEST in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING article.
  3. 7

LED "ON" steady indicates voltage to fuel injector is okay, but driver circuit is grounded at all times. This step determines if circuit is shorted to ground, or PCM is faulty.
  4. 13

Normal resistance is slightly more than if tested directly at fuel injector because it includes resistance of harness wires. Normal resistance should be 13.5 ohms.
