Grand Vitara, Vitara & XL-7

  1. Warm up engine to normal operating temperature.
  2. For Grand Vitara, check to make sure that fast idle control cam is off cam follower lever, if not check fast idle control system referring to THROTTLE BODY  .
  3. With throttle valve closed, check accelerator pedal play "a" which should be 0.08-0.20 in. (2-5 mm). If measured value is out of specification, adjust accelerator cable so as pedal play to be within specification with cable adjusting nut. Then tighten lock nut. See Fig 1 or Fig 3 .
  4. With accelerator pedal depressed fully, check clearance "b" between throttle lever and lever stopper (throttle body). Clearance between throttle lever and lever stopper (throttle body - with accelerator pedal depressed fully) is 0.02-0.08 in. (0.5-2.0 mm). If measured value is out of specification, adjust it to specification by changing height of pedal stopper bolt. See Fig 2 or Fig 4 .
