Grand Vitara, Vitara & XL-7

- Ensure all fuel and emission control system wire connectors and hoses are properly connected. Ensure accelerator cable has free-play, air cleaner and ducts are properly installed and air filter element is in good condition. Start engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature. Turn all accessories off. Ensure ignition timing is correct. See IGNITION TIMING
. Check for intake air leaks, repair as necessary.
- Connect Suzuki scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC), located under left side of instrument panel. See Figure
. Select DATA LIST mode and observe IDLE SPEED and IAC DUTY parameters. Compare idle speed or idle air control duty cycle to specifications, see IDLE SPEED SPECIFICATIONS
and IAC DUTY AT SPECIFIED IDLE SPEED
tables.
- If idle speed or idle air control duty cycle is not within specification, check operation of Idle Air Control (IAC) system. See IDLE CONTROL SYSTEM
in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING article.
- Turn A/C on. Compare idle speed with specifications, see IDLE SPEED SPECIFICATIONS
table. If idle speed is not as specified, check A/C signal. See A/C SIGNALS CIRCUIT CHECK
under MISCELLANEOUS CONTROLS in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING article.
